Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua defended his IBF heavyweight title for the first time with a seventh-round knockout of Dominic Breazeale in London.
IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KO) had to pound away for a little over six rounds, but ultimately he chopped down Dominic Breazeale (17-1) in the seventh frame on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London.
Breazeale was tough and he came to fight, but he was at a speed disadvantage that was impossible to overcome.
The 26-year-old champion from London seemingly couldn’t miss with swift and stiff jabs followed by thudding right hands.
The challenger took the shots well, especially considering most of Joshua’s opponents have crumbled at the first taste of the Londoner’s power. Unfortunately for the 30-year-old American, he had no head movement to go with his slower feet and hands.
Breazeale was floored for a second time in the seventh, the referee waved the fight off. Joshua's mandatory challenger is New Zealand's Joseph Parker
